Sustainment Technologies, Inc., is an 8(a) Certified, Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Disadvantage Business that was originally founded by Ignacio L. Torres, Jr. in 1970, as Torres & Associates, Inc.,an architectural firm in San Antonio, Texas. Torres & Associates enjoyed a long history of success to include significant work and contributions to the design of the famed River Walk of San Antonio. Ignacio is credited with giving the River Walk its name of "Paseo Del Rio". Other key projects included design of portions of San Antonio's 'Hemisfair 68', the city's world fair.
Municipal and government projects included the Dos Rios Wastewater Treatment Facility, the largest municipal project undertaken by the City of San Antonio at that time. The firm has received numerous awards and recognitions for its work. In 2003, Edward F. Torres, also an architect, reinstituted the firm and changed its name to Sustainment Technologies, with the intent of refocusing its efforts to sustaining our nation's facility requirements and equipment assets.
Prior to this, Edward spent nearly 27 years in the U.S. Air Force as a health care facility project manager, designer, and eventually administrator and commander. He has also served on a command staff that operated 9 major military healthcare installations.
Sustainment Technologies, Inc., is a “doing business as” (d/b/a) name of Torres & Associates, Inc., that is approved by the SBA. STI also carries and is authorized to use the d/b/a name of STI-Intellamed, to recognize its teaming arrangement with Intellamed, Inc., a major supplier of health care services in the equipment maintenance, repair and asset management sector.
